DAY 1 – Middleton Beach to Princess Royal Harbour
Swimming, Fishing and Surfing are
accessible from Middleton Beach take a walk along the Boardwalk and
Whalehead walk to the Point King lighthouse.
For those who would prefer to enjoy the scenery from the comfort of
their own car, take Marine Drive with it’s numerous lookout bays
over King George Sound and out to the open sea.
From there take the Mount Clarence turnoff and drive through the
Avenue of honour to reach the parking area near the top
(elderly and
handicapped may drive right to the top) Mt Clarence is the highest
point in Albany and the home of the Desert Corps Memorial, A
National War Memorial which looks out over King George Sound, the
assembly point for World War 1 Convoys.
Turning left again at the Lower turnoff of Mt Clarence will take you
to the Forts, a restored World War 1 defence establishment for the
port and the memorial for the USA Submariners, quite an interesting
walk.

DAY 2 – Historic Albany
Just park your car near the Residency
Museum on Princess Royal Drive, the Brig Amity, the Old Goal, the
Courthouse (still in use after nearly 100 years) and Wesley Church
are all within
easy reach on foot a little further, visit the
Vancouver Art Centre which used to be Albany’s Old Hospital, now
restored, there are many old building in the centre of Albany.
From there via St Johns Church to Stirling Terrace and it’s many
fine old buildings including the Old Post Office.
Back in the car and along Serpentine Road to the Mount Melville
Lookout which gives virtually 360 degrees view over the countryside
surrounding Albany, and of course no visit is complete without a
look at Dog Rock and Strawberry Hill Farm both on Middleton Road.

DAY 3 – Boat Cruise or Fishing
Choose from a wide range of water
activities such as a Whale Watching Cruise or a scenic trip around
the harbour.
Between June and December witness our amazing marine wildlife – from
Whales to Seals – or for a different view simply throw a hook line
and sinker in the water.
The Albany Visitor Centre can give you a wealth of information on
tours and fishing slots as there are too many to mention, it doesn’t
matter which way the wind is blowing you can always find a place to
fish in Albany.

DAY 4 – Discover Denmark
Follow the South Coast Highway for 50
km’s to reach Denmark a thriving coastal town and cottage craft
centre.
River cruises commence from near the bridge or for the more
adventurous a boat can be hired with either oars or outboard.
Details on other attractions such as Wineries or an Alpaca Farm can
be easily obtained from the Denmark Visitor Centre situated in the
main street.
For an amazing walk a top the giants, continue on towards Walpole to
where the now famous Tree Top Walk is situated above and among some
of the tallest Karri trees in Western Australia.
On the return trip take the alternate route via Lower Denmark Road
which gives access to Cosy Corner, Mutton Bird Island, Torbay, Local
Crafts and a number of Beaches.

DAY 5 – Beach Scenery
Travel east along Lower King Road to
visit both King and Kalgan Rivers, Nanarup Beach and Two Peoples
Bay.
Nanarup Beach is a beautiful Swimming and Fishing Beach (you can
catch the likes of Salmon here of the beach if you are lucky, early
in the year) for it’s choice of
open sea or sheltered bay which is
great for families or just relaxing.
Both Nanarup Beach and Lower King River are popular fishing spots
and have public gas barbecues, which can be used free of charge.
Along the way are many attractions such as Willowie Game Park,
Marron Farm and Bird Park, Suncrest Orchard (in season) and a Golf
Course.

DAY 6 –
Coastal Drives
From the Albany Town Centre head west
along Princess Royal Drive to the old Whaling Station and Museum.
Don’t forget Frenchman’s Bay with it’s remnants of a Norwegian
Whaling operation.
This is also a popular swimming beach and picnic area with a small
natural spring and the favourite "Bomby Rock".
On the return to Albany, it is a chance to visit any or all of the
natural wonders on our spectacular coastline such as the The Salmon
Holes, Stoney Hill Lookout, Jimmy Newell’s Harbour, The Blow Holes,
The Gap, Natural Bridge and Sharp Point at the end of Green Island
Rd.
You could stop in for a game of golf at the Grove Park Golf Links or
visit the Wind Farm.

DAY 7 – A Country Trip
To go a bit further a field follow
Chester Pass Rd to the Porongurup and Stirling Ranges.
Try Mountain climbing (Bluff Knoll) for the fit or wander through
the National Parks to experience some of the great wonders of the
bush and in the Spring view some of Western Australia’s unique
Wildflowers.
For the not so fit or those with a liking for gold medal class wines
there are a range of wineries throughout the regions including the
Porongurup National Park and Mt Barker.
