Albany is a stunning place and a photographers dream. Stretching from West Cape Howe National Park in the West through the City of Albany and beyond to the East the Albany Region is a wonderful place to explore and photograph. We will claim Denmark through to Bremer Bay as in our region.

Mount Martin

Mount Martin Regional Botanic Park -there are many stands of the spectacular Albany Banksia.  There are various walks around the botanic park where numerous varieties of wildflowers can be found including common donkey orchid, little kangaroo paw and late flowering pink bunny orchid.

Thank you Samara Maddison for our cover photo

Mt Martin Botanical Reserve provides a beautiful coastal setting for recreation and enjoyment of natural beauty. High vista points in the landscape offer outstanding views of Breaksea and Michaelmas islands, Albany’s harbours and Torndirrup Peninsula.

The diverse landforms and soils found within this protected area support an exceptional botanical richness.  The largest known stand of Albany’s floral symbol, Banksia,  exists within the park which unfortunately is threatened by dieback.

A complex patchwork of forest, woodlands, wetlands, sedges, granite shrub lands and coastal heath covers the landscape.

This is a beautiful hike especially in Spring when the wildflowers are blooming.

A side track to Johnson’s Cave is well worth the effort.
